Day Twenty Nine – August 2nd

Volunteering Day 7

This will be a pretty short blog I’m afraid as I’m tired and to be honest we didn’t do that much. Went to work as normal, really awesome. Every single time I get in the water I feel the same way, you don’t really get use to it. I think I’ve actually told you basically everything that I do every day, but here’s a pretty list just to recap or encase I’ve missed anything: unlocking display area and theatrette, fish preparation, data recording, radio use, dolphin feeding, pelican feeding, sweeping, counting boats and trailers, printing the weather forecast, cleaning fish room after use, playing the DVDs and answering the public’s enquiries. (Below are some very fascinating photos of the diary – basically the dolphin bible here – and the radio.)

Today was the first day I have seen all five dolphins in for a feed at the same time, and it was really great. I can tell them all apart quite easily now, which saves time when you’re in the water.

The new vollie Kerri seems to like appearing to do work and not really doing it, for example she walks around holding a clipboard when she can, to look important and busy, but left me to clean all seven dolphin buckets, the pelican bucket, sinks and floor of the fish room by myself! Thanks.

After work we just hung after the trailer and beach, I did some blog and read before lunch. Then we went into Denham for a relaxing massage. I finished Fallen while waiting for Kim, it was good, although had a strange ‘end’. The massage was very nice, I just wished that – in the nicest way – the lady would stop talking to me. I don’t mind chatting, but I wanted to just lay there and relax! Following our massage we went and bought a big fat doughnut each and ate it by the sea. Then we had a little walk to a couple of shops – I got a little pressie for brad – and went back to the car.

I tried to blog but after the massage I was quite tired so I got a bit behind, although I did tidy up all my stuff and pack up a bit.

Kim fell asleep while I was trying to blog, then I gave up after I had e-mailed Ursie and went to sleep too – after killing a moth, horrible things.

Gald to see you're getting used to dealign with insects yourself. Soon you'll have to sort out spiders on your own!
