Whale Watching Cruise Blog 3

August 4th

The alarm went at the same time, but we both fell asleep again and got up at 7! Rushing around we ran up to the top deck, only to find ourselves surrounded by fog and alone... Going down to the breakfast buffet we found everyone else, quite wet. They had not seen anything, and then it rained so they came inside. Richard forced me to eat something - I was feeling sea sick - and then we all went back up the top... before admitting it was useless and the fog was getting worse. Jess and I decided to see if the pool was open, and although it was sloshing around quite a bit, they let us in. It helped me because I couldn't feel the ship moving and it just felt like being in a wave pool. (Photo below, the ship in the fog.)

Being the only two in the pool and marine biologists we played 'guess the marine life' by acting like it. A little girl then got in, so we went out and went to see what it was like up top. It had cleared a lot so we wrapped up and set about spotting once more. We saw common dolphins, harbour porpoises, some unknown dolphins and a splash which someone thought was a minke whale. To celebrate our last day Jess and I had a nice big dinner with dessert. We played in the games room and got a dolphin painted on our hands by a face painter. Then we had to pack up and order our taxi, which we searched with Richard, to the train station. A few hours later and I was home.
